I Wish I Had Been the First...

While I wish my ideas of GIS and motorsports were groundbreaking, I am far behind those who first used GIS with motorsports. I am also not the first fan to want to study this more.

The link below is the abstract for two graduate students' idea about studying GIS with motor rallies. When I first began to consider the same ideas myself, my first turn was google to see what had already been done. Shockingly I found only this single page. I quickly shot off emails to both of the students pleading for a chance to read about their study and to learn more. Months went by without a reply and soon after I had forgotten about the email, I recieved a reply from one.
Lack of funds, resources and time killed the project. They had spoken to a few rally organizers about event dynamics but had nothing beyond that. I will admit, the answer was not what I expected and it killed any excitement I had for my own ideas. Years later I still have the email in the hopes that sometime I can send them my own studies and maybe get some great feedback.
