Site news and plans

by Steve Email

Just wanted to share an update about the site this week. Right now I have a few posts I am working on simultaneously. Ill be pushing them out one at a time on a weekly basis. Topics include motorsport video games, NASCAR and also I'm putting together a multi-part write up on data logging. There is an interview that I have coming up as well so that should show up sometime soon. This week my main concern is finding someone to proof read what I am working on so I can get a second look at it.

In regards to the Perfect Lap Project, I have a trip coming up to Germany so funding for actual events is on hold until April. So no driving will be done for a few months, but until then I will be writing about the process I will use and some of the caluclations I will be working with. I'm also speaking with others I know to see if maybe some testing can be done with their vehicles. Either way I'll have a new post for the project next week.

The Rally Notes project is coming along. Im still sorting out the books of stage notes I recieved from Dave Shindle and I also have a small interview with him regarding stage notes that I need to type up for a post. One of the books I recieved from him shows how notes are made based on turn length and angle and so that will be brought into a large post.

Beyond that I am also working on the base SpatialStage website. A lot to sort out with it and I might need to find help from a web designer to implement what I am picturing in my head. The site wont be ready for a long time but when it is I will make sure anyone following this site will know!

And a quick update to my last post here about the navigation systems...a reader sent me this article which says...

"Audi also plans to incorporate Google Street View in the system at a later point and it promises detailed 3D city models with plenty of travel information from Wikipedia and detailed weather reports."

Wow! Glad to see that Audi is serious about this. The 3D city models and weather reports are even better! It sounds like they will be at the forefront of car navigation very soon. I might have to look at an S4 in a couple years...

Lastly I just want to thank anyone who has taken the time to read through the site. And if you are checking back often even better! Please if there is anything you'd like to see or suggest to me, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email. While this blog is just a way for me to expand my experiences, I hope it will be interesting to others as well.
